Our Bioscience Cluster
The Prince Edward Island Bioscience Cluster is the location of choice for companies engaged in the research, development, and commercialization of bioactive-based human, animal, and fish health and nutrition products. While a small jurisdiction, we punch above our weight for national bioscience capacity building. We are attractive for SME animal and fish health acceleration due to the PEI BioAlliance's unique cluster model, our specialization in atypical fermentation, and proximity to the Atlantic Canada Veterinary College.
The PEI Cluster includes over 40 bioscience companies, several research institutions, and is home to Emergence – Canada’s virtual Bioscience Business Accelerator and Natural Products Canada, North America’s first business accelerator dedicated to the commercialization of products and technologies based on natural product chemistry.
Advancing Animal Health
The PEI bioscience cluster is unique in Canada in its focus on technologies as well as innovation and infrastructure related to both animal health and human health. As one of its key competencies, PEI companies are engaged in animal health and nutrition product development and diagnostics.
